Relationship & teamwork between Greece and Turkey increased after 1999 earthquakes which happened in both countries. One year after this terrible catastrophes I met my Greek wife.

The shock after knowing that a lot of people pass sentence on our relationship disappeared not quickly but we decided to continue.

Now we have two beautiful children and we know that it was right to go on with our love. We are very happy that we could survive the hard judgments from our surround.
We believe that love and tolerance is the only must between a couple. Well, this example I used for little bit more good vibrations between Greek and Turkish people all over the world and to give other Greek Turkish couples the possibility to inform themselves about this subject.

Since April 2002 this website is online to improve the friendship between Greek & Turkish people and to show that it is possible to build up even  families. The Internet has bad and good sides and here I want to show that it can be used as an tools for peace and harmony.

To make this relations easier a lot of work made by Greece's former foreign minister George Papandreou and his Turkish counterpart Ismail Cem (RIP) whom began to solve the disputes that have brought the long-time regional rivals to the brink of war. Now in 2008 our countries became so much closer together which makes us very happy.

This site include a list of greekturkish couples. There you can write your comments and suggestions. I hope it will be used as a tool for gaining more friendship and communication.

Dear friends,
I really like this webapge!! Andoni thanx for "guyding" me to find it. I want to share our experience with Orhan as well: we are together since 1998, we had many difficulties from the families, but finally things are getting smoother. Now we are in the final stage of deciding where it is better to live. For the moment I (Maria) live in Athens and Orhan in Istanbul but we spend all our holidays and money in plane tickets visiting each other and making plans. I think that all of us we are really lucky to live such beautiful relations and I wish many other Greek Turkish couples will be created in Greece, Turkey or abroad and produce Greek-Turkish babies who will be unique:)

Classical questions that Greek-Turkish couples face:
-Where will you live?
-What religion your children will have?
-Will they get a Greek or a Turkish name?
-What does your families say?
-What about the neighbours?
-The relatives? Did they give their permit?
-What language you will speak with each other and what language your children will learn?
-What? You don't fight about Cyprus issue, Aegean Sea or "common" history issues?
-What marriage will you do?
We are not married, but we already started to be asked such questions from friends. We want to say to all the Greek Turkish couples who are not married, but who love each other (because this is important) that they shouldn't feel puzzled by questions like that, that usually are asked from people who are "outsiders" and don't' know what is the thing that "we" live. We are really happy to see that there are many couples like us and we hope we will become more and more and we will produce more and more Turkish Greek babies that will be the bridge of peace. We have finally got married after all these problems we found... We are so happy together now and we apreciate and thank both our families that have supported us so so so much!!! Special special thanks to my darling Yiayia and mum!! We love u girls!
